Friday Weigh In – 330

Weigh In: 330 lbs
Gain/Loss for the Week
: Lost 8 pounds
Total Loss
: 70 lbs

Feels good to hit another milestone!  I’m happy to report that I am right on track with hitting my goal of 300 pounds on my birthday, Jan. 6th.  The only reason I pulled a big number this week is because last week I only showed 1 pound lost by Friday but on the Saturday I dropped the other 3.  I blame my high sodium diet.

This week I managed to keep my sodium levels lower although my fat content was still way up.  I actually had a surplus day (bad Ted!) but was able to high higher numbers on other days to compensate.  This week I’ll try to work on lowering my fat content and see if I can hit the target on my nutritional goals.

Friday Weigh In – 338

Weigh In: 338 lbs
Gain/Loss for the Week
: Lost 1 pound
Total Loss
: 62 lbs

I’m slightly disappointed that I didn’t show the 4 pounds that I should have lost after seven days of maintaining a daily deficit of 2000 calories.  I’m pretty sure my sodium intake had a lot to do with my weight fluctuations.  Water retention occurs even in guys and since I’m such a big guy I guessing I have more cells to retain water.  At least that’s my theory.   My increased sodium intake is mostly due to dining out as well as some prepackaged foods.  Judging by my sodium and fat intake I guess it’s no surprise that the contents of what I’m eating is secondary to counting calories.  I’ll start to work on getting more low fat and lower sodium items on my plate and see if that makes a difference.

Here’s my Bodybugg stats for the week if you’re interested:

My 300 (lb) Battleplan

My 300 (lb) Battleplan

For two months I dine in HELL!

Okay, well maybe dining in Hell is a bit much but after a few weeks I may feel like I’m in Hell.  I have decided to undertake a personal challenge of getting down to 300 pounds by my 35th birthday on January 6th.  In order to reach this lofty goal I will have to loose four pounds a week by maintaining a daily caloric deficit of 2000 calories.  A typical daily goal to achieve this will be to eat 2000 calories and burn 4000 calories.

I actually started on Friday Oct 30th so I’ll have a total of 68 days to hit the mark.  My Facebook friends already receive my daily spam postings where I share my daily progress.  I’ll be sure to include all my weekly data here as well when I weigh in on Fridays.

Some may think I’m biting off more than I can chew… er, trying to loose too much weight too fast.  My friends who know me well are probably wondering how the hell I plan to pull this off without beer (I kinda wonder that myself).  Hell, who am I kidding.  I’m thinking both those things.    I’m sure I speak for most folks when I say the challenge is 90% mental and 10% physical.  I’ve proven that 2000 calories a day can sustain me without any real discomfort.  I’ve even proven that I can burn 4000 calories by just taking extra walking opportunities throughout the day.  The real challenge will be to maintain those two goals every day without succumbing to the desires that put all this weight on me in the first place.

What I find most encouraging is that I know I will succeed because I have the awesome support of my family and friends to keep me on the path to a smaller me.
